MISSION
I have always been the one to go against the current, to always take that challenge... and well, I am in one now. These photos are moments of love for what I find EXTRAORDINARY. I feel blessed that I have the most supportive and loving husband to share this adventure with me. And despite having a neurological disease my passion for art has helped me continue to appreciate the best things in life
I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2013
For a decade I dedicated myself to serving others and eventually managing the restaurant unfortunately this is the type of work does not go well with tremors so I had to leave my job.
My goal is to give back to the Parkinson’s community by raising awareness for this disease
As a photographer, having stability is crucial. Not being able to control and stabilize my camera is now my biggest fear. Not even the best tripods and monopods can help you when you have but seconds to shoot that critical, fleeting beautiful moment. I have adopted some techniques that help control the intensity of the tremors. I have learned to temper my frustration at not always getting the best shot and being thankful for giving it my best effort and just being in moment. “I can still beat this disease,” I tell myself when the shot I capture mirrors the one I see in my mind before pressing the shutter.
I still struggle understanding why I have the disease. What did I do wrong? How can I prevent or help others? Participating in clinical studies and being part of support groups. This and having a positive attitude has enabled me to continue with my life.
It is not over with a Parkinson’s diagnosis. It’s only the beginning. I want to inspire those with Parkinson’s to take that challenge & enjoy life….
When you take a moment to check out my art, you are helping someone find their passion. Even if you don’t realize it, you are serving as a crucial support mechanism just by appreciating and interacting with the art.
